Rimrock gets opening-round win at district

Thursday: Rimrock 71, Horseshoe Bend 28 — The Raiders rode a strong start to an easy victory at home in the first round of the 1A District III girls' basketball tournament.
"They really played well," Rimrock coach Mike Chandler said. "They came out and really played balanced. We had four girls in double figures."
Senior Jackie Thurman led the way with 16 points. She was hot from the outside again, nailing four three-point goals.
Randie Denton and Anna Cantrell scored 15 points apiece.
Thurman led an opportunistic Raiders' squad with eight steals.
"We moved up and down the floor really well, and things we've been working on came together," Chandler said.
Keysha Fenton scored 10 points for Horseshoe Bend, which trailed 20-4 after eight minutes.
