Arraignment set in 1998 sex case

Thomas Edward Benson of Murphy was bound over to District Court last week, charged with six felony offenses; all lewd conduct with a minor under 16.
Benson is accused of molesting two girls between 1998 and 2000. The girls were age three to 11 at the time.
Benson will appear before Judge Gregory M. Culet for arraignment on March 12. He was originally arraigned on Jan. 11, but entered no plea. A no contact order was issued against Benson concerning the two victims at that time.
A conviction for lewd conduct with a child under 16 can be punished by life in prison.
